Retrofit Your Home to be More Energy Efficient with Toronto Doors & Windows!
The Canadian federal government has officially launched a new initiative, “Canada Greener Homes Grant,” through which Canadian homeowners are eligible for up to $5,600 to help improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Reducing our carbon emissions and contributing toward Canada’s greener energy goals. Providing that buildings, including our homes, account for 18% of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. The aim of this new initiative is to help make existing homes more energy-efficient while creating new middle-class jobs in the energy-efficiency sector and grow our domestic green supply chains to better fight against climate change. What’s Included in the Initiative?
✓ Up to 700,000 grants of up to $5,000 to help Canadian homeowners save money on home retrofits to improve their energy performance.
✓Support EnerGuide evaluations (worth up to $600) and expert advice for all Canadian homeowners looking to begin their retrofits.
✓Support recruitment and training of EnerGuide energy advisors to meet the increased demand while creating new jobs in energy efficiency across Canada.
What Does the Greener Homes Initiative Cover?

To benefit from up to $5,600 from the Canada Greener Homes Grant, a homeowner’s primary residence must be eligible for an EnerGuide home evaluation, for one of:
- Single and semi-detached houses
- Row housing
- Townhomes
- All-season cottages
- Mobile homes on a permanent foundation
- Permanently moored floating homes
- Small multi-unit residential buildings (3 stories or less with a footprint of 600m2 or less) *
- Residential portions of mixed-use buildings (except multi-unit residential buildings over 3 stories or over 600 m2 in footprint).
How to Get Started!

Step 1: Register and book your EnerGuide home evaluation
Once you have read through the requirements and eligibility, you can then register for the Canada Greener Homes initiative. To register link to a preferred sign-in partner, for direct deposit to your chosen account. After which, the rebate funds will be deposited directly once your renovations have been completed and approved.
As part of the registration process, you will have the opportunity to book the first two EnerGuide evaluations, with a qualified energy advisor. Once you have chosen your preferred service provider and have requested an evaluation, you will be contacted to arrange an appointment to assess the energy efficiency of your home and advise on your upgrade options.
Step 2: Upgrade the energy-efficiency of your home with Toronto Doors & Windows

Step 3: Receive your reimbursement
Once we have installed your new energy-efficient doors & windows, you can then book your second EnerGuide evaluation. During this step, you will need to provide proof of your home upgrades. After which, you should receive a direct deposit from the Canada Greener Homes Initiative, for your retrofit reimbursement.
